WT2 upgrade notice-Better Decoding, More Stable PoC, and a Better Global Group Experience

Hi everyone,

Today, we wanted to share a new firmware update for the WT2.

WT2 is a product that I’m particularly happy to see so many radio enthusiasts enjoying. It’s a very small and portable radio, but we managed to put a lot of functionality into it — UHF walkie-talkie, 4G/Wi-Fi PoC communication, FM, MW, SW, Internet Radio, podcasts, and more.

And because of the TEF6686 chip, The WT2 has excellent sensitivity for FM and shortwave reception.

For this update, we focused on three areas that will make the WT2 experience better.

1. Better Radio & Podcast Decoding Compatibility

We have improved the audio decoding system and added better compatibility for different streaming formats.

Some Internet Radio stations or podcasts that could previously fail during decoding should now play normally.

We will continue improving this part as we discover more unusual streaming formats in the future.

2. Delete Stations After ATS Scanning

Many users have asked for this feature.

After ATS finishes scanning and saving stations: you can delete the stations that you don't like by: Press OK → Open the saved station list → Select the station you want to delete → Long-press OK, Then the selected station will be deleted.

3. A Major Improvement to Global Group Stability

This is probably the most important improvement.

We found an issue that could occasionally happen when several people tried to transmit at the same time in Global Group. In some situations, a WT2 could fail to acquire the microphone successfully, which could cause the device to become stuck.

After this update, Global Group communication should be significantly more stable and much smoother, especially when multiple people are trying to talk at the same time.

And We Have a Small Request for All WT2 Users

We really hope everyone will use Global Group more often.

A product like WT2 is not just about the hardware. What really makes WT2 special is the people using it.

If the Global Group stays active, people who join for the first time will hear someone talking and naturally want to join the conversation. Then more people will stay, more people will talk, and the community will continue to grow.

I truly hope radio enthusiasts and ham radio operators from all around the world can come together and enjoy having conversations with each other.

So,try to say hello with someone on the other side of the world.

I would really love to see a day when you can open your WT2 at any time — morning, afternoon, or middle of the night — and someone is always there to talk to.

Our personal goal for Global Group is simple:

We want WT2 users around the world to be able to have a conversation 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

So after you update your WT2, come into Global Group and say hello.

Maybe you’ll meet someone on the other side of the world.

See you there!
